Ferrari’s racing division Scuderia Ferrari plans to work with technology company DXC Technology to develop advanced digital solutions for the automotive industry. In addition to performance, the focus is also on user experience.

DXC, an IT services provider formed by the merger of Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), intends to work with Ferrari to develop customized end-to-end solutions for the automotive industry. These solutions will be based on a software strategy that will be used in Ferrari’s racing cars from 2024. In a sense, the race cars will act as test vehicles – if the solutions work, they will be applied and scaled to production vehicles.

The starting point for the developments are techniques that have already proven themselves in Formula 1 vehicles. Scuderia Ferrari and DXC want to bring these techniques together with state-of-the-art human-machine interfaces (HMI). “We have been working with Ferrari for several years on their foundational infrastructure and are proud to additionally guide the company in our partnership going forward as they move into the technological future,” said Michael Corcoran, Global Lead, DXC Analytics & Engineering. “Under our agreement, we will develop innovative technologies that expand the vehicle’s digital information capabilities and improve the overall driving experience for everyone.” The two partners initially kept the exact technologies involved to themselves, but the context of the release indicates that the concept of the software-defined vehicle will play an important role.

According to DCX, it has recognized that the development of automotive software is becoming increasingly important with the shift to software-defined vehicles. This will enhance the in-car driving experience and connect drivers with the automaker. However, in choosing Scuderia Ferrari as a collaboration partner, the Italian racing team’s continued pursuit was the deciding factor, it said. and is known for its continuous pursuit of innovation.

“We are pleased to start a new partnership with DXC Technology, a company that already provides ICT infrastructures and human-machine interfaces for Ferrari’s critical systems and with whom we will explore further software asset management solutions in the future,” said Lorenzo Giorgetti, chief racing revenue officer at Ferrari. “With DXC, we share values such as business expertise, the pursuit of continuous progress and a focus on excellence.”
